In addition to single-player modes like World Tour, Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 will have Battle Hub for online play. Rollback netcode and cross-platform play have also been confirmed, which is already great news. But in a recent interview with IGN, director Takayuki Nakayama revealed that the fighter wouldn’t use the same rollback netcode as Street Fighter 5.

“As you know, Street Fighter 5 also had rollback netcode, but in terms of six…Street Fighter 6 will have rollback netcode, but it’s not going to be the same as what we had in five. This is something that they’re building from scratch again and, you know, there’s a lot of effort being put into the development of the netcode.”

Nakayama also confirmed that it’s not just something that the netcode engineers on the team are working on. “They’re getting people from the battle team to participate in that development to ensure that the experience is seamless and it feels good.”

Street Fighter 6 is out in 2023 for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. With cross-platform support confirmed, this will be the first game in the series to allow for online matches with Xbox players. For more details on the game’s Drive System and mechanics, head here.
