Sunset Overdrive Announced by Insomniac Games: Exclusive to Xbox One

Shooting zombies with vinyl records ahoy!

Insomniac CEO Ted Price took the stage at the Microsoft E3 conference to announce that the studio will be developing a new franchise exclusively for the Xbox One called Sunset Overdrive.

Described as a “stylized open world shooter”, the game is completely different from the studio’s earlier released FUSE. A colorful, kitschy city was seen with what seems to be the main character running through it, as curiously bizarre zombies chase him. Maybe to ask for directions – or how to stand up properly.

Fortunately, he has his vinyl record shooting gun and another weapon that seems to consume energy drinks for firing. You couldn’t pay us to make this up but there it is.

The game will also somehow benefit from the Cloud functionality of the Xbox One, though it hasn’t really been overtly detailed. Stay tuned for more information as Microsoft’s surprisingly good press conference rolls on with other exclusives.
