The rumored "Battlefield Hub" could be the "love letter" to fans that DICE LA is working on, according to insider Tom Henderson.
Here are all the most significant details DICE and EA have revealed about Battlefield 2042.
Based on the Assault, Medic, Support, and Recon classes, these four playable Specialists are each going to have unique gadgets and attributes.
The playtest will be conducted in a grey box environment with the purpose of collecting feedback from a group of Battlefield veterans.
While PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will have large-scale maps for up to 128 players, the game's PS4 and Xbox One versions will have smaller variants of maps for a maximum of 64.
Taking a page out of Ubisoft's book, DICE says Battlefield 2042 – set in a world brought to the brink by climate change – has no social commentary.
Each map supports 128 players on current-gen consoles with locations ranging from Antarctica to South Korea and Singapore.

Meanwhile, EA has also confirmed a Year 1 Pass for the game, which will include 4 new Specialists, 4 battle passes, and 3 epic skin bundles.
The next mainline Battlefield game has been officially unveiled, showcasing in-engine footage with its reveal trailer. A gameplay reveal is set for June 13.
