Microsoft is also expecting similar sales for Fallout 5, which will be the next game Bethesda Game Studios focuses on after The Elder Scrolls 6.
Digital and physical launch week sales surpassed Resident Evil 4 Remake and Final Fantasy 16. It's also the fifth fastest-selling title of the year.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer has previously said that the game is unlikely to launch for at least another five years.
Full mod support for the sci-fi RPG doesn't arrive until next year, but there's still plenty of useful mods out there that are already worth downloading.

The sci-fi RPG also enjoyed the biggest launch ever for a Bethesda game to date, with over 6 million players upon release.

The week ending September 2 was Xbox Series X/S' best week in 2023, while the following week was the second-best.
Bethesda Game Studios has taken a noticeable leap forward with its newest RPG.
