Director and series co-creator Yuji Horii says he wants the series' next instalment to be worthy of fellow co-creators Akira Toriyama and Koichi Sugiyama, both of whom previously passed away.
Veteran Dragon Quest producer Yu Miyake is reportedly being reassigned to Square Enix's mobile games division, and is likely to be replaced by Yosuke Saito, best known for his work on the NieR series....
Regarding the upcoming Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate, series creator Yuji Horii replied, "There’s still not much I can say."
"There’ll be plenty more Dragon Quest to tide you over until it’s finished," says director and series co-creator Yuji Horii.
Koichi Sugiyama passed from septic shock on September 30th. He was the sole composer for the Dragon Quest series since its debut.
The studio previously helped with development on Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age and Bandai Namco's Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.
Square Enix's Yosuke Matsuda says some parts are consistent with series' traditional image but "new elements are also necessary."
Series creator Yuji Horii says it's a big game and will take some time to complete. However, the story is finished and ready to be implemented.
The next mainline Dragon Quest title will see changes to the battle system. No release date or platforms have been confirmed yet.
