Remedy Entertainment has been trying to make a sequel to Alan Wake for well over a decade, though development for the product took about 4 years.
Remedy Entertainment says it didn't want Alan Wake 2 to "go neck to neck" with other major releases scheduled for mid-October.
New gameplay footage shows off much more of The Dark Place, combat mechanics, Alan's Mind Palace, and more.
The survival horror title's newest trailer also offers a glimpse of how Remedy will be making use of live action this time around.
"October is an amazing month for game launches and we hope this date shift gives more space for everyone to enjoy their favorite games," Remedy Entertainment says.
"Camera perspective and things like that, yes, there are good references from the recent Resident Evil games that we did look at," says game director Kyle Rowley.
Game director Kyle Rowley has seemingly suggested that we'll be learning more about the titular protagonist's side of the story in The Dark Place.
Accessible anytime, the Mind Place is where Saga investigates the case, arranging clues on the Case Board and checking objectives.
Creative director Sam Lake says the team created a new concept for Alan Wake 2 "between every game project we have made."
Remedy's head of VFX Johannes Richter does reiterate that the focus is more on "spine-chilling atmosphere and psychological frights."
It also looked at companies like Niantic, Konami, DeNA, Square Enix and even Nintendo for improving its "mobile footprint."
"We didn't want to release something that we weren't proud of, basically, and we didn't want players to play," said Remedy's Kyle Rowley.
With Alan Wake 2's release quickly approaching, we analyse the many factors surrounding its release and deduce whether or not the game is sailing through some troubled waters at the moment.
Remedy Entertainment is looking at "modern" films like Hereditary and Midsommar in addition to "classic art-house horror films."
Remedy Entertainment's long-awaited survival horror sequel is going to be e meaty experience, the developer has revealed.
"Whether they buy Alan Wake 2 or Spider-Man 2 isn’t really what we’re thinking about. We just want to put forward our game and present it to the players," says co-director Kyle Rowley.
Players will have the freedom to choose which character they want to play as and experience the story with, the developers explain.
"We wanted to basically allow players to replay through the game," says Alan Wake 2 co-director Kyle Rowley.
New playable character Saga Anderson investigates the woods in pursuit of a lead and encounters an axe-wielding foe in the darkness.
In addition to new locations, several locations from the original game will also be recreated, including Cauldron Lake.
