Built on Unreal Engine and described as a first person narrative-driven psychological horror title, The Dark World: Karma will put players in the shows of an investigation officer who can enter others’ brains, explore their memories, and uncover the mysteries of the story. Appropriately enough for a psychological horror game, players will come across many grotesque monstrosities, from people with monitors for heads to monsters with many hands. Previously set for a 2022 release, The Dark World: Karma is now due out sometime in 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

At this year’s TGS, the game emerged once again- though it now has a new name. Now called Arise of the Awakener, the action RPG’s new trailer continues to look promising, showcasing various locations and enemies. The primary focus of the trailer is on showing off the game’s combat across a number of different playable classes, from powerful magical attacks to more close range melee strikes with different weapons.

The trailer also shows glimpses of customization mechanics, bombastic battles between flying airships, dragon riding gameplay, and more. There’s quite a bit to unpack here, so make sure to check out the trailer below.

The Awakener: Risen will launch for PS5, PS4, and PC sometime in 2023.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair have become available on Xbox consoles over the last few months, and now, Spike Chunsoft is completing the set and bringing their sequel over as well.

At Xbox’s recent TGS 2022 stream, it was announced that Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony has now launched for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. Like its predecessors, the murderous visual novel is also available via Xbox Game Pass.

In our review of Danganronpa V3 back when it first launched in 2017, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “Danganronpa is completely silly, deranged, weird, terrifying, awful, ironic, depressing, hopeful, wonderfully written, emotional and engrossing. Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is also available on PS4, PS Vita, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.

A remastered version of the game launched for PS4 and PC in 2019, which is the version that’s been made available on Xbox platforms as well. Meanwhile, it’s also been confirmed that its sequel, No no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom, will also launch for Xbox consoles and Xbox Game Pass sometime in 2023.

The Ni no Kuni franchise has been dormant (at least in the West) for a few years at this point, with Level-5 having been focused on a mobile release and an animated movie in recent years. Even so, going back to these games – especially the original – is very much recommended.

Exoprimal will see dinosaurs pouring through interdimensional distortions all across the planet, a threat that is being dealt with through the use of powerful suits called Exosuits- though using them comes at a cost, with the Leviathan AI seemingly stopping at nothing to make them more efficient in their task.

The trailer goes over the game’s central conflict and the dangers of using these suits, while showing various central characters and, of course, giving us glimpses of some of the many Exosuits we’ll be using to fight back against dino hordes (some of which, like the Nimbus, Skywave, Murasame, and Krieger have been shown off before). Exoprimal launches for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime in 2023.

The Japanese publisher recently provided details on its schedule for Tokyo Game Show 2022, with a number of panels and streams set across multiple days. Interestingly, the final slot of the final day in Bandai Namco’s schedule (which is September 18) is dedicated to what one would assume is a new, unannounced game, with the publisher attributing it only to “???”.

The question, of course, is- what is Bandai Namco planning on announcing? As always, we turn to rumours and unconfirmed reports here. The game that comes to mind first is Armored Core 6, which has been leaked and is allegedly in development at FromSoftware.

A new Ace Combat game is also in development at Project Aces and ILCA, but it’s unknown how far along in development that is. Previously job listings have also suggested that Bandai Namco is developing a remaster for a Nintendo title, which recent reports have suggested is a Nintendo Switch remaster of Kid Icarus: Uprising (though Nintendo will likely to want to announce that itself, possibly at the rumoured upcoming Nintendo Direct).

Of course, there’s no shortage of people who’ll be desperate for Elden Ring to get DLC.

Either way, we’ll be keeping an eye out for new details, so stay tuned for more updates.

For the first time in a while, this year’s TGS is going to be an in-person event, but Xbox is also going to have a digital presence at the show. Microsoft confirms that the Xbox Stream for Tokyo Game Show 2022 is set for September 15, and will kick off at 6 p.m. JST / 9 a.m. UTC / 2 a.m. PDT.

Microsoft says the show will be “curated for our players in Japan and Asia.” You can expect to see “updates on existing titles from Xbox Game Studios and titles launching from developer partners.”

A number of other companies have recently confirmed their own TGS plans as well. Capcom, for instance, is bringing Street Fighter 6 and Resident Evil Village’s PSVR2 version, while Koei Tecmo is bringing Team Ninja’s Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Meanwhile, Konami is also set to announce a new game in a “world-loved series”.

Konami’s TGS 2022 website has now gone live, and it provides details on what to expect from the company at the event. One particular title in the list provided catches the eye though- Konami says that during a stage presentation on September 16, it will announce a new title in a “world-loved series.” Japanese voice actor Yuki Kaji will also be on stage to “represent” the series’ fans.

Konami has been in the rumour mill frequently of late, with the company rumoured to be working on major revivals for a number of its franchises. As per leaks, this includes a number of new Silent Hill games, a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, and a new Castlevania game.

As per VGC, however, the announcement at TGS is unlikely to be related to any of those. The outlet writes in its report that as per its sources, Konami is saving those big announcements for events being held later in the year.

So what could Konami be planning for TGS 2022? As per a recent report, it seems the company has remasters of Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, and 3 in development that it plans on announcing soon. Read more on that through here.

CESI announced the theme for this year’s expo, with the tagline “Nothing Stops Gaming.” CESI elaborated on the reason for the theme, saying that even though the last two years were pretty tense given the situation arising with the pandemic, gaming helped in lighting up everyone’s days, and will continue to do so in the future. They said: “Over these two years, various fun events disappeared from our daily life, but games still lightened up our days. Games will continue to brighten up the days of everybody now and forever—this year’s theme implies such strong determination.”

Tokyo Game Show 2022 will have programs in Japanese with a live English interpretation, just like every year. Popular programs such as demos of the latest and upcoming games, a virtual tour experience, and the Tokyo Game Show VR area have also been planned.
