Taking place during the opening chapters of The Fellowship of the Ring, the story focuses on Gollum who seeks to recover the One Ring. This will take him to a number of locationms, ranging from Bard-dûr and Mirkwood to Mordor (which can be seen in the new screenshots below). Since Gollum isn’t the strongest character, he must rely on stealth, agility, platforming and his wits to survive.

Perhaps most interesting is the ability to make decisions that lean towards the Smeagol personality or the Gollum personality. The former is more empathetic while the latter is all about violence and cruelty. Which side ultimately wins out will depend on the player. Introduced The King of Fighters 99 as a partner for K’, Maxima’s fighting style is known as Type-M. The focus is on grappling and striking along with the ability to block during attacks. Of course, thanks to his suit, Maxima also possesses some powerful weapons like the MX-2b Final Cannon. This fires a chest laser with fairly good range and is a part of his Climax Super Attack.

The King of Fighters 15 releases on February 17th, 2022 for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. It will launch with 39 characters (with six more coming post-launch), rollback netcode for online play and an extensive Story Mode. Stay tuned for the remaining two character reveals in the coming weeks.

If you are unaware, there was a tech demo called P.T. that was developed by Kojima Productions before the split with Konami. The mysterious demo ended up being a teaser for a Kojima developed title in the franchise that would be called Silent Hills that would involve both del Toro and legendary horror manga writer/artist Junji Ito. However, that project never came to be and was canceled before reaching full development, with Ito never even submitting a single piece of work. del Toro has been vocal about his dislike of the move from Konami, and in a recent interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he explained that the comment at the game awards was just another jab at Konami, and that he was not working on a new Silent Hill game, even going as far as to say that he didn’t see himself getting involved in game development in the future.

“It’s just one of those things in my life that makes no sense. I kind of just wanted to tickle the ribs of Konami, because I don’t understand. That was so perfect, what we were going to do was so enthralling.”

As it stands now, there are no official announced plans for the Silent Hill franchise, though it has shown up in various other titles in a variety of ways such as a recent Dead by Daylight chapter. Whether any of these rumors are true, only time will tell.

Other notable records include 1.6 million tweets about the show; 23.2 million viewer votes; and 1.75 million hours watched on YouTube (which is its highest till date). The sustained growth that the event has seen over the years is nothing short of impressive. It will only get bigger with the number of releases coming in 2022.

This year’s show featured reveals for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, Elden Ring, Steelrising, Saints Row and Homeworld 3 along with major announcements like Alan Wake 2. Rumored titles like Bully 2 were also apparently meant to appear (which didn’t happen). Time will tell if they re-emerge in the coming year or even appear at The Game Awards 2022 so stay tuned.

“Bully 2 was expected as a potential surprise reveal at #TheGameAwards last week after some people have been shown some material alluding to a reveal soon. Information is a bit blurry at the moment, and I have to be quite vague here, but if I hear more I will report on it.” Henderson said in a follow-up tweet that, “Some people saw a ‘playable version’ just a couple of weeks prior to TGA (not the canned version).”

While Henderson couldn’t share any finer details, he felt that “It was worth reporting on as there’s something definitely ‘going on’ to do with the series.” This isn’t the first time that a follow-up to Rockstar’s acclaimed 2006 action adventure title was rumored to be in the works. But it’s interesting that there’s some kind of playable version out there, especially when the project was allegedly cancelled in 2017.

As such, Rockstar is rumored to be working on Grand Theft Auto 6 (which is allegedly facing development troubles) and a remaster for Red Dead Redemption 1. It also has Grand Theft Auto 5: Expanded and Enhanced Edition releasing in March 2022 for Xbox Series X/S and PS5. Could a new Bully really be happening? We’ll have to wait for more details in the coming days.

Kishimoto is known for directing Sonic Forces, Sonic Lost World and Sonic Colors but was also the lead designer for Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic and the Black Knight. Perhaps more intriguing is that the story is written by Ian Flynn, currently the head writer of IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog comic series. Flynn was also formerly the lead writer for  Archie Comics’ Sonic the Hedgehog series and wrote an episode of Sonic Boom.

Sonic Frontiers is planned to release in Holiday 2022 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch. More details are still to come but Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka hopes that it “lays the foundation for the following future Sonic titles” much like Sonic Adventure did.

For the moment, ARC Raiders is a PvE-focused third person shooter. Along with various mechanized flying drones, there are giant walker-like tanks whose legs can be blown apart. Explosives and other weaponry can be employed, though players also seem capable of leaping around with little effort. It’s interesting especially given the music choice.

ARC Raiders is slated to release in 2022 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, PS5 and GeForce Now. It’s published by Nexon and sees players scavenging their tools from the ruins to overcome the ARC. Stay tuned for more details and gameplay footage in the coming months (hopefully along with information on the game’s monetization)

Set in the 26th century with humanity at war with the Covenant, the series seemingly follows the rise of the Spartans who could turn the tide. The cast includes the likes of Jen Taylor, Pablo Schreiber (who plays Master Chief), Shabana Azmi and many more. Its budget is estimated to be around $200 million – the question now is whether it lives up to the hype.

In the meantime, Halo Infinite is currently available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. It’s also available on Xbox Game Pass with the multiplayer being free to play.

House Atreides and House Harkonnen have already been confirmed but there will be multiple other factions included. Players can use politics to outmaneuver the other factions, rely on military force or employ espionage to emerge victorious. Of course, the iconic Sandworms are here which can wreck all of your best-laid plans so be prepared.

Dune: Spice Wars will be available first for PC but could come to other platforms later. It launches with four factions with three victory conditions and all of its warfare, spying and political systems in place. Multiplayer will be added over its early access period, which is estimated to last for about nine to 12 months.

Not much is known about the campaign, save for the fact that it’s running on Remedy’s Northlight Engine. Players will seemingly have unique abilities throughout, from super strength to camouflage, so it should be interesting to see how they influence the gameplay. For multiplayer, there will be three new maps along with Legendary Mercenaries and a revamped Tactical Growth System for acquiring different upgrades.

More details and gameplay will likely be revealed in the coming months so stay tuned in the meantime. Blackbird Interactive, which releases Homeworld 3 in Q4 2022, also has a real-time strategy based on Crossfire that releases next year with Crossfire: Legion. Learn more about that here.
