The King of Fighters 15

SNK announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live at The King of Fighters 15 would release next year in February. It also recently released a trailer highlighting the various mechanics of the fighting system, different modes and other features to go with the 39 launch fighters. Check it out below.

Some of the new combat mechanics include Shatter Strike, a parry-esque move which defends against and counters enemy attacks; Max Mode for added damage and “unleashing” one’s offensive potential; Max Mode (Quick) for cancelling attacks and extending combos; and a variety of Special Moves, including over-the-top Climax Super Special Moves. We also get a peek at the Story Mode which features a new KOF tournament and a “dormant force” that awakens. Sooner or later, the Earth is leaning towards destruction and our heroes must intervene.

Other modes include Online Battle (which has Rollback Netcode at launch) and numerous options from Ranked, Casual and Room Match to Online Training and Replay. Trial Mode also returns, testing one knowledge and skill in chaining combos. Gallery Mode with various artwork to unlock, the DJ Station with over 300 songs from the entire series, and even an animated short are also confirmed.

SNK also confirmed the Deluxe Edition which contains the base game and two new teams of three DLC characters each. Those who pre-order on consoles will also receive three days early access. The King of Fighters 15 is out on February 17th 2022 for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC.
