Take Two CEO: We Don’t Need Next Gen to be Successful

CEO Strauss Zelnick shows little evidence of being wrong.

Take Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick recently spoke at Cowen and Company’s 41st Annual Technology and basically stated that the company doesn’t need next-gen consoles to be successful. However, this is more due to the fact that they develop great games, which consumers won’t be abandoning any time soon.

“We think next-gen is going to be successful, but even if it isn’t, we develop great interactive entertainment for every platform that exists, and there’s zero evidence that consumers are moving away from interactive entertainment. We are totally ecumenical. The last thing we’re going to do is bet on a particular piece of hardware.”

Considering the amount of hype that Grand Theft Auto V has received, and the anticipation that will become the highest selling title of the year – even with adversaries like Call of Duty: Ghosts, FIFA 14 and Battlefield 4 – we can’t say we fault their approach. Grand Theft Auto V is currently slated to release on September 17th for PS3 and Xbox 360.
