The Alters

11 bit studios’ The Alters doesn’t have a release date but is still coming this year. In the meantime, a free demo is now available on PC as part of the Steam Next Fest till June 17th. A short new gameplay trailer is also available, highlighting protagonist Jan Dolski attempting to talk things out with himself.

Set on an alien planet which threatens to burn to a crisp from its Sun, Jan must operate a mobile base and attempt to survive. He can’t do it alone, which leads to employing the mysterious Rapidium to create alternate Jans. These aren’t simple clones, but rather versions of Jan, who took different decisions in life and thus ended up in other professions.

You can have technicians, botanists, scientists and more, but it’s not easy. You’ll need to manage the different Alters and examine their needs and intentions (the one thinking of “Rebellion” is probably concerning). Not everyone will see things your way, though.

The Alters will launch for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC, and on day one for Game Pass. Stay tuned for more details and check out our interview with the developer.
