Monthly Events for Season Pass Holders

This was a concern when the Season Pass was first announced and it’s no less valid even now. If you purchase the Season Pass for The Division, you apparently gain access to exclusive events each month. What is the nature of these events? What do they confer upon players? What possible reason could there be for making them exclusive to Season Pass owners? While it’s not nearly as divisive as Bungie’s approach with The Taken King (don’t own the expansion? Say good bye to Legendaries, Nightfalls, Weeklies and separate Crucible playlists among other things), it’s still a very odd move to take. Shouldn’t the content and exclusive items make the Season Pass worth owning?
