With all companies having wrapped up their summer showcase for games, attention has now turned to the upcoming Gamescom, where we’ll likely see companies releasing more trailers. In a recent episode of the Xbox Two podcast, industry insider Jez Corden has indicated a belief that Bethesda might have a new trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6 ready. In the podcast, Corden discussed that he believed that a new trailer for the highly-anticipated RPG was making the rounds internally at Microsoft.

The discussion primarily revolved around the kinds of things that Xbox would announce and showcase at Gamescom. While not too many details about this rumoured trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6 have been revealed as of yet, Corden indicated that he was certain that it was being circulated at Microsoft.

So far, the only thing we know for a fact about The Elder Scrolls 6 is that it is in development at Bethesda. The company had unveiled the title all the way back in 2018, but has since been quiet about it while it worked on its other big-budget open-world RPG Starfield. Now that the sci-fi game has been out for a while, it is quite likely that the company has begun working on The Elder Scrolls 6 in earnest.

The game was originally announced with a pre-rendered cutscene that simply gave us an aerial look at what we can expect to be the main landmass where The Elder Scrolls 6 takes place, and a logo. This new rumoured trailer that is circulating internally likely has quite a few more details revealed, including its main setting, the time period of the game, as well as maybe even a look at the new gameplay and RPG systems of the title.

Back in April, former animator for Bethesda – Jeremy Bryant – revealed that he doesn’t believe Bethesda will expand its team to work on The Elder Scrolls 6. He spoke about the studio’s usual process of acquiring smaller studios wholesale rather than rapidly hiring new developers on its own.

“Todd [Howard] has the vision for the game that he wants to make and he knows he needs X number of people to do it,” said Bryant, who has previously worked on titles like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, Fallout 4, and Starfield. “When you road map out what you’re going to do you can see if you need more devs, and it was obvious that we did. Probably the only way, really, to grow that fast is to kind of wholesale absorb, you can’t hire that fast I don’t think. It would be hard to hire onesies twosies and get up to the scale you needed.”

When asked if Bethesda would scale up its number of employees to work on The Elder Scrolls 6, Bryant responded “I wouldn’t think so.”

Bethesda exec Pete Hines has also previously described The Elder Scrolls 6 as a big and ambitious game, while also stating that it was quite some time away. More recently, the company released The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. For more details, check out our review.
