At this point, Bethesda have made it remarkably clear that they are not currently working on The Elder Scrolls 6, and that, while the game will definitely release at some point in the future, Bethesda have loads of other games that they want to make before then. I don’t know how many times they have to say it before people get the message, but just so it is clear, Bethesda’s VP Pete Hines said it in no uncertain terms on Twitter- The Elder Scrolls 6 is not in any state of development at the moment, not even ‘pre-alpha.’
When a fan pestered Hines, Hines made it clear that what he was saying wasn’t just PR speak- no one at Bethesda is currently working on an Elder Scrolls 6. He even made it cleared that the game is not in any stage of development when asked by a fan whether a pre-alpha version exists. In turn, this means that given Bethesda’s long development cycles for each of their individual games, whenever this game does release will be years from now.
This breaks my heart, because I adore The Elder Scrolls, and I want to play the successor to Skyrim soon. But hey, at least for now, there’ll be Skyrim remaster for me to play, while I weep bitterly and wait for Bethesda to deliver the next game in the series eventually.
