We all love Skyrim, and Cyrodiil, and Morrowind, and all the other excellent places we’ve been to over the course of several The Elder Scrolls games. Bethesda are capable of consistently building some of the best fantasy settings in video games, rich with lore and subtext and personality. Which is why we’re so excited to see where we’ll be going in The Elder Scrolls 6, even though it’s going to be a while yet before we finally play the game (or even hear about it, apparently).
The planet of Nirn, where The Elder Scrolls series takes place, is a big place though, and we haven’t visited even a fraction of all the beautiful and wondrous locations it has to offer. And we feel like Akavir would be the ideal destination to head to in the next game of the series. It would be a first for the series in several ways- Akavir lies to the far east of the planet, and if the game were indeed to head there, it would be the first time that a game wouldn’t be set on the continent of Tamriel.
But that’s exactly what makes it such an exciting proposition. We’d get to see an all new kind of location, the kind we’ve never seen before in The Elder Scrolls, with a new flavour of lore, culture, backstories, architecture, environments and everything else that comes along with a new setting. On top of that, it’s also worth mentioning that Akavir is the homeland of a number of species and races from tis universe, most notable of which is dragons. Who wouldn’t be interested in going to the place the dragons call their home?
What do you think about this? Do you think it’s a good idea to leave Tamriel for the first time ever, or should Bethesda stick with what’s been working for them so well in the past? Maybe even revisit an already visited location? Tell us in your comments below.
