NO SHIVS
Joel could craft some pretty lethal melee weapons with things he scavenged from the environment, each of which had a durability meter. One such weapon with a lot of utility was the shiv, which not only allowed instant stealth kills, but could also help open locked doors. The shiv and its durability mechanic, however, will not be returning in The Last of Us Part 2. Instead, Ellie will be equipped with her trusty switchblade, which will permanently remain by her side, and remove any need for shivs.
