The recent flurry of casting announcements for major characters in season 2 of HBO’s The Last of Us are continuing. Following announcements of Kaitlyn Dever being cast as Abby and Young Mazino being cast as Jesse, HBO has now announced that The Last of Us has also found its Dina in Isabela Merced.
Merced is best known for her roles in Transformers: The Last Knight, Sicario: Day of Soldado, and Dora and the Lost City of Gold, and will also be playing roles in the upcoming films Madame Web and Alien: Romulus, and has also been cast as Hawkgirl in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy.
Season 2 of The Last of Us will premier sometime in 2025. Showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have previously confirmed that the entirety of The Last of Us Part 2 won’t be covered in a single season.
The Last of Us recently won eight awards at the Creative Arts Emmys, with Nick Offerman and Storm Reid picking up awards for their roles as Bill and Riley respectively. The show is nominated for an additional five categories at the upcoming Primetime Emmys.
