As part of an elaborate April Fool’s celebration, Sega has released a new visual novel based on Sonic the Hedgehog on PC. The visual novel, titled The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, is available for free on Steam. Check out the trailer below.
The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog takes place during Amy Rose’s birthday, where she’s hosting a murder mystery party on the Mirage Express. While Sonic is only pretending to be a victim for the party, something more sinister seems to be brewing underneath.
Gameplay revolves around investigating various parts of the Mirage Express and interrogating various characters from throughout Sonic the Hedgehog‘s rich and varied canon. The game also features hand-drawn landscapes and characters.
Recently, Sega announced Sonic Origins Plus for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Featuring the base game along with all DLC and 12 Sonic games from the Game Gear era, Sonic Origins Plus is slated for release on June 23.
