The beta for Paradox Interactive’s 2.5D side-scrolling multiplayer shoot ’em up The Showdown Effect commenced on January 31st. Players can now finally take it to the limit and to their opponents. But for those who don’t know the thrills of being the heroes that the city deserves, if not the ones they need right now, they can always pre-order The Showdown Effect and receive immediate access to the beta.

Simply head here, choose between the regular or Digital Deluxe Edition and then jump right in with a few bonuses to boot like new weapons (including the Fusion Saber of Light) and a new weapon skin for the former and two more weapon skins, bonus outfits like the Magicka robe and even a free copy of Magicka to boot for latter.

For those who have been invited for the beta, they can simply head here and get cracking.

As of now, The Showdown Effect’s release date is to be announced but it will heading to PC and Mac this year.
