With less than a week to go before launch, Frogwares has released an extensive overview trailer for The Sinking City 2. The premise is simple – all the ways to survive Arkham, from combat to investigations – and it even reveals some new mechanics and characters (including a mermaid who really wants to be set free).
As Calvin Rafferty, played by Andrew Wheildon-Dennis, players venture into Arkham to find a remedy for Faye Bennett (voiced by Gemma Elizabeth Whelan). After the two indulge in a ritual that goes wrong, the latter is left in a coma, though, strangely enough, you can still communicate with her through a mask.
Despite having limited ammo, Calvin has an extensive arsenal at his disposal, from machine guns and rifles to shotguns. You’ll want to investigate and obtain Dream Essence, which can be used to unlock Talents and specialize in different playstyles. They can also yield other benefits, including a revive mechanic should Calvin fall in battle.
Another interesting detail concerns the Slither, the worm-possessed enemies that occupy the city. While destroying weak points is a good way to take them down, you’ll want to stomp on the remains, Dead Space-style. Fail to do so, and the worms will reanimate the bodies, which is hardly ideal.
