‘The Switch Is Just Not A System We Intend To Fully Use Or Optimize For Agents Of Mayhem’, Says Developer

'We have been developing this game for three and a half years now.'

Agents of Mayhem, the newest installment in the fan favorite Saints Row series, is due out later this year. The game will be hitting the PS4, Xbox One, and PC- however, it will not be launching for Nintendo’s Switch. While that makes sense, and perhaps not a lot of people were expecting it to in the first place, we still found it interesting enough that we decided to ask Lead Animator Michael Jungbluth why the decision to skip the Switch was made.

“We’ve been working on this game for about three and a half years ago years now, three and a half years ago we were saying the things we were building at for,” he said. “[The Switch was] just not a system we intended to fully use or optimize while we were making this game.”

Which makes sense- development on the game started long before the Switch was even a thing, and the Switch, with its unique architecture and hardware, probably did not figure into Volition’s plans. Of course, whether or not that changes for future games by them remains up in the air, for now.
