Co-founder Marcin Iwinski denies rumours of CDPR or GOG being sold.

Witcher 3 Hearts of Stone

Rumours began swelling yesterday that CD Projekt RED, known for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, was in talks to be acquired by EA. Considering the differing stance of both companies on many things, including DRM and free DLC, there were understandably fears from the most devout of fans.

Co-founder Marcin Iwinski since spoke to Eurogamer and stated that, “We usually don’t comment on rumours but this one has become quite viral and we think it deserves to be put to bed. We are not talking with anyone regarding selling CD Projekt Red or GOG.com. Period.”

The source that spoke about the “takeover” of CD Projekt RED by EA provided a payslip to confirm their identity as an employee. However, Iwinski refuted this as well, stating that, “The payslip is a fake – it was not issued by our company.”

Thoughts on this whole situation, or just plain rejoicing? Let us know in the comments below.
