The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt’s First Expansion “Shaping Up Nicely”

"Good news" in store for Gwent lovers.

The focus has shifted off of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in light of so many top-tier games like Mad Max and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. However, developer CD Projekt RED has been as committed to the game as ever, recently offering New Game+ mode to fans and working on the first major expansion, Hearts of Stone.

During a panel for The Witcher 3 at PAX Prime (as reported by DualShockers), CD Projekt RED’s Travis Currit said that the first expansion is “shaping up really nicely” and is “almost ready”. We know that Hearts of Stone will release in October but this news makes it likely that it could be sooner in the month than later.

Currit was also asked whether there would be a stand-alone version of Gwent, the wildly popular collectible card game in The Witcher 3, and while he didn’t confirm as much, it seems there’s some “good news” coming for Gwent fans. A huge new array of cards with the next expansion? One can certainly hope that’s the case.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is currently available for Xbox One, PC and PS4.
