The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt might be close to eight years old now, but the acclaimed open world RPG still has plenty of life left in it. CD Projekt RED recently confirmed that the game will be receiving its free next-gen update for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC soon, and it looks like it’s going to be a meaty one. Plenty of technical and visual upgrades have been confirmed, in addition to several new QoL features, while CDPR has also confirmed that multiple mods will be integrated.

On top of that, players can also look forward to various visual and technical flourishes hidden in the updated experience. Talking to Eurogamer, narrative director Philip Webber said that The Witcher 3’s upcoming update will add “lots of new secrets and little details” for players to find that will be completely hidden, to the point where they won’t be mentioned in the patch notes either.

“So we hid lots of new secrets and lots of new little details that we want people to find,” Weber said. “Roach can walk backwards now. Or actually, if Roach is standing there’s even now a hidden button that you can kick. Or I think Roach now lifts her head if you’re in the water. We tried to put in lots of these small things for people to just find, that we won’t even put into the patch notes.”

The Witcher 3’s next-gen update will go live on December 14.
