Nintendo may have announced the New Nintendo 3DS recently, but it has no plans of letting sales for the regular 3DS models slow down in between now and the launch of the New line. For this holiday season, they have announced not one, not two, but three special edition, themed Nintendo 3DS XL systems for North America. And each of these ones is gorgeous and a beauty, and each of these ones is one I want. Not getting them will be an exercise in self control and restraint.

The first of these is a 3DS XL themed for Super Smash Bros., which is the biggest game launching this year on Nintendo platforms, and which launches on 3DS next month; the new system is the same one that was unveiled for Europe and Japan a few weeks ago.

North America is also getting a sexy and stylish 3DS XL system themed for Persona, to celebrate the upcoming launch of Persona Q on the system, and as a rabid Persona fan, this one will probably be the hardest for me to resist.

But perhaps the feather in this hat is the third one, one that isn’t necessarily themed like any 3DS game, but is instead modeled on the classic NES system, and extremely accurately and faithfully. Me wanty.

None of these 3DS systems will come with any game included, so, for example, don’t buy the Smash one expecting the game to be included in the package. Equally important, these will be available only at Gamestop and in extremely limited quantities, so if you want one, best to get them as soon as possible.
