10. Soul Calibur 3
Before you rush to the comments to criticise me for choosing a game that clearly doesn’t fuse genres, I ask that you hear me out. Though the bulk of Soul Calibur 3 was the same 3D weapon-based fighting we know and love, the Chronicles of the Sword mode offered real time strategy elements that were pleasingly mixed with the sword-clashing action. It was the first time that character creation utilities were offered in the series, and these custom fighters could then level up in the aforementioned mode as they won successive battles. Truly a three way of meaningful game types.
