7. Portal
Most games in the first person viewpoint revolve around shooting things. Lots of things. In a way Portal was no different, but the shooting was of portals required to clear the game’s mind-bending puzzles. Arguably, Half-Life fused puzzle elements into the FPS genre before, but Portal was a more extreme example. The mix of comedy into the challenges also helped make it the genre defining title it is.
