If you could point to a recent turning point for the Yakuza franchise, then Yakuza 0 may be it. It wasn’t just a breakout success, introducing a new generation to the finer aspects of the series. Yakuza 0 took us to the origins of it all, introducing us to Kazuma Kiryu and the side quest-laden Kamurocho. With phenomenal attention to detail and a nuanced take on the yakuza (not to mention all manner of bizarre side stories), this game served as a great game overall.
