The most popular Souls-like game of all time, which mixes epic exploration with deep lore, an addictive combat system, enough spells, weapons, and build-crafting to put an action RPG looter to shame, and some of the best battles ever created. There’s so much to say about Elden Ring – its art direction, how it leverages the open world, etc – but it’s an experience that many should experience first-hand. And when you’re done with that, there’s Shadow of the Erdtree – the expansion which adds an entirely new map with even more weapons, bosses, and secrets to discover. It may slouch and slog in places or frustrate you with some of its fights, but with its expansion, Elden Ring is a Souls-like experience that shouldn’t be missed.
