Observer: System Redux
Fulfilling the role of a cybernetically enhanced police detective who can hack into dead people’s minds via the nefariously dubbed Dream Eater is disturbing enough, but in Observer – a hybrid of cyberpunk aesthetic and psychological horror – the secrets of said minds require intrepid exploration; warped environments demanding recontextualisation amid a backdrop of palpitating neon and unsettling ambient sound design. System Redux reworks the original’s annoying stealth sections to a degree. The game would rank higher if stealth wasn’t still cumbersome.
