#17. THE LAST GUARDIAN
Fumito Ueda and co have never failed to deliver generation-defining games, and with The Last Guardian, that is exactly what everyone expected them to do again. And thanks to multiple delays and the game’s reveal and eventual release being separated by years of anticipation, those expectations only grew. The Last Guardian doesn’t deliver on those expectations as convincingly as, say, Shadow of the Colossus did, but this game is the very definition of a flawed gem. Because sure enough, The Last Guardian is flawed, at times almost frustratingly so. But beneath those flaws is a game that tugs at our heartstrings and surprises you with its gameplay ingenuity time and time and time again. Whether or not The Last Guardian was worth the wait is question that will have a different answer for every person. For us, the answer is an emphatic yes.
