Homefront: The Revolution
Though more well known for its troubled development, Deep Silver Studios’ Homefront: The Revolution is attempting to do something we’ve only seen in brief snatches from first person shooters like Metro: Last Light – it wants the world you’re fighting in to feel alive. That means showing the repercussions of the Greater Korean Republic invading the United States. There’s also the non-linear state of missions which further encourages the anarchy the game wants to incorporate.
The visuals further aid this by employing a 1984-like style but set in modern Philadelphia. If you’re not into aesthetics, you’ll be happy to see that everything is rendered in nice sharp detail with strong ambient lighting, dynamic weather and awesome environmental effects. One can only hope that same attention to detail helps Homefront: The Revolution rise above its troubled past.
