The original ending had chell speak her first word
If there is one very unique trait that Chell and Gordon share (other than wanton destruction) is that they both are silent and don’t speak a word during any of the games. However Chell communicates to Wheatley by jumping up and down, much to his confusion. The developers were quite excited at the fact that Chell was actually going to speak her first word, however when Valve tried to implement it in the game, it sucked, quite bad and the developers and test players really didn’t like Chell speaking.
