The recent UK sales charts for games, courtesy of Gfk Chart-Track are in, and they’re fairly interesting. Middle-Earth: Shadow of War debuted in second place despite tons of marketing and a more bombastic scale. FIFA 18 stayed in first place even with a 55 percent drop in sales week-on-week (even selling 40 percent more copies than Shadow of War).
But the bigger story is The Evil Within 2. Despite positive critical praise, the sequel managed to sell 75 percent less than its predecessor. These are for physical copies alone (including Amazon sales) since Gfk Chart-Track doesn’t include digital sales. When you consider the first game launched on five platforms while the second only hit three, it sort of makes sense. Still, these numbers are pretty disappointing.
Forza Motorsport 7 and Forza Horizon 3 are in fourth and fifth respectively and going strong while Destiny 2 sinks to sixth place. Grand Theft Auto 5 is in seventh, finally inching out of the top 5 after seemingly years. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is in eighth followed by Lego Worlds and The Lego Ninjago Movie Video Game.
