It’s been a long time coming, but Iron Gate Studio has finally announced a release date for Valheim 1.0. After more than five years in early access, the Norse survival crafting title will finally exit on September 9th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch 2. Check out the first trailer for the big new update, Deep North.
Iron Gate creative director Robin Eyre said in a press release, “When we set out on this journey back in 2021, we could hardly imagine the amount of players that would dive in, and the size of the community that would form around the game. Approaching 1.0 feels equal parts exciting and anxious as we’ve worked hard to make Deep North a worthy conclusion to the Valheim journey!”
Of course, that isn’t just the name of the update – Deep North is also the last biome that players will traverse. It’s fittingly beset by blizzards and snow-covered terrain, but surprisingly, they’re not the first to try and brave its environment.
Aside from the weather, you’ll need to deal with Gammeltrolls, older, stronger versions of the usual Trolls. There are also the underground passageways where the Elakingar lie in wait for anyone unfortunate enough to venture in.
More details will likely be provided closer to launch – Iron Gate does like its secrets after all – but Valheim 1.0 is confirmed to feature cross-play with PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2. It’s currently available on PC, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. Check out our review here for our impressions.
