Valve announces $1 million prize money for the DOTA 2 tournament

The International is the first public Dota 2 event.

The tournament is named, ‘The International’ and features some best players from a wide variety of countries. It will also be the first time DOTA 2 will be shown in public on August 17th-21st during Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.

The tournament will be broadcast in four languages and the winner receives a prize money of whopping $1 million. All the hardware will be provided by Nvidia, and Valve President, Gabe Newell had something encouraging to say, “The International is the first public Dota 2 event and will give the tens of millions of gamers playing DOTA around the world their first look at the new game”

“I have had the good fortune to watch the competitors as they prepare for the tournament, and the level of play is extraordinary.” DOTA 2 release date is TBA and will be available on the PC and Mac.
