Voice of Cards The Beasts of Burden

Square Enix’s Voice of Cards series is getting a new game in less than two weeks. Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden will launch on September 13th for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC on September 13th. Check out the announcement trailer below.

Similar to The Isle Dragon Roars and The Forsaken Maiden, Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden is presented entirely with cards. It’s a standalone story set in a world of monsters and humans who have hated each other for millennia. Players control a girl who lost her home to the monsters and teams with a mysterious boy, seeking revenge.

In terms of new mechanics, The Beasts of Burden allows for trapping monsters in cards. These can then be used as skills in battles. Creative director Yoko Taro, music director Keiichi Okabe and character designer Kimihiko Fujisaka also reprise their roles.

Along with the Standard Edition, there’s also a Digital Deluxe Edition which includes DLC based on NieR Re[in]carnation. These include new costumes for the protagonist and other party members, a Handbook Pattern, an avatar based on Mama, Dice patterned after Mama and Carrier, and a Board and accessories fashioned after the Cage. You also get a table pattern based on the random draw screen, a soundtrack “Melody of Reincarnation,” and a Pixel Art Set, which replaces all character and enemy art with pixel art.

Stay tuned for more details on the title en route to its release.
