“We will probably be the last to announce something”- Sony

A lot of rumours about the announcement of a PS4 have been floating around recently, but a Sony exec has flat out denied any such possibility, saying that the firm is in a strong place with the PS3 right now and that they’ll probably be the last company to announce a new console.

“It’s true that there are many rumours, but I couldn’t tell you anything,” PlayStation France CEO Philippe Cardone said in an interview with Le Point. “The Wii is pressed for time because it is in decline. In our case, we have a lot less pressure. We were the last to leave the PS3, we will probably be the last to announce something.”

Although there have been several reports and rumours regarding a new PlayStation console recently, Sony has said time and again that they have no plans to launch a new system right now. Kaz Hirai also said that Sony will not be announcing the PS4 at this year’s E3.
