4. Don’t forget about conventional gaming experiences
In all the hubbub surrounding motion controls, it’s easy to forget about conventional gaming experiences. They’ll be present for sure, but it would be nice to see some actual developments occurring in this field outside of an increase in processing power. Maybe a new controller design, some kind of revolutionary dashboard feature? It’s a big ask, but it would be nice to see some changes to the way we game from day to day outside of waving your arms around like a nonce.
5. Sort out online distribution
Microsoft and Sony have this one down, but Nintendo really need to get their act together on this front. They promised they’d do better on the 3DS, but they have yet to go the extra mile. The Wii U deserves better, so let’s hope they remove that ridiculous data limit and start offering demos. I know it might sound crazy Nintendo, but people like being able to try before they buy.
6. Crack down on piracy
An obvious but important one. The past decade or so has seen the PC fall from one of the greatest gaming machines ever conceived, to a mere shadow of its former glory. All this because of rampant piracy destroying publisher support. Offering well integrated and desirable online features is probably the best way to go about eliminating piracy (or at least making it more detectable), thus explaining why the Wii is the current home console to suffer the worst piracy.
