10. Cross platform play

Though each console should offer a unique experience, it’s sometimes nice to have the option of playing together in some games. I’m not asking for the earth to move, so we can discount play between the big three consoles, but some more PC multiplayer integration would be welcome. We’ve already seen games like Portal 2 and Shadowrun attempt this in this generation, so why not up the ante on next generation hardware?

11. Get the controller right

If it won't survive being sat on a few times, it's hardly worthy of being called a controller

Nothing ruins a console’s credibility faster than a bad controller. I purposely avoided the PS3 for the first year and a half of its life, not because of the games or hardware, but because the original Sixaxis controller was just that bad. The extra weight and durability in the Dualshock 3 made up for this blunder, but it sure as hell soured my initial experiences with the PS3. Don’t do it again Sony.

12. Make everything developer friendly

Another Sony related infringement that needs to be rectified with the PS4. So many developers have described the PS3 as a pain to develop for, with many ports from Xbox 360 suffering issues as a result of this (Bayonetta anyone?) The big three need to ensure that developers have an easier time with next gen hardware, as an increased developer satisfaction should lead to a greater wealth of quality titles.
