The Hidden Mountain expansion for Where Winds Meet is now live. Celebrating the launch, developer Everstone Studio has released a brand-new trailer that you can check out below. Along with this, the studio has also revealed details about all of the new content coming to the free-to-play open-world RPG.
To reach the new zone of the Hidden Mountain expansion – dubbed Unseen Approach – players will have to reach level 32 and complete the quest Hidden Mountain Main Chapter 2: Haven Astray. The area has been described as one shrouded in mystery and folklore, with some even saying that it has been possessed by a spirit that doesn’t want to be found.
On getting to the Unseen Approach, players will find suspended walkways across massive heights, with the hum of machinery being faintly audible in the distance. Their ascent will be helped with “ingenious devices of iron and wood” that “coexist with maple groves and seas of flowers.” Exploring the zone will give players plenty of rewards, including earrings and nameplates.
The story quest for Hidden Mountain will be available for players who have finished Kaifeng Main Chapter 1: New Arrival in Kaifeng – The Welcoming Crowd. Its story will revolve around the mysteries of the eponymous Hidden Mountain, and will serve as a prelude to the Hidden Mountain Main Chapter: Bringer of Embers quest.
Players looking forward to unlocking more lore can kick off the Jianghu Legacy quest line for the expansion with Volume 1: Mountain Unveiled. The only prerequisite here is the acquisition of the Wulin Journal for Hidden Mountain. Further stories about Hidden Mountain will be unveiled when Volume 2: A Flourishing Legacy arrives on August 6th.
Those looking for a challenge can take on a host of new World Bosses – the duo of Ci & Cuo and the Ironheart Centipede. Ci & Cuo are a pair of puppets that live beneath the lake. The first challenge will be to kick off the encounter, since the duo has been described as being elusive. Beating Ci & Cuo for the first time will reward players with accessory Radiant Charm, Inner Way Note: Custom Chest, Medicinal Tales, and Echo Jade, among other things. More rewards can be earned by completing various challenges associated with the boss.
Ironheart Centipede is a fearsome combination of self-moving cauldrons, with each one being capable of emitting strange sounds thanks to the presence of a “mechanism bug”. Originally created to take on venomous creatures in the mountains, the Ironheart Centipede has since been forgotten. Despite originally being benevolent, the boss will likely offer quite a bit of challenge. Like Ci & Cuo, it also offers unique rewards through defeats and challenges.
Finally, the expansion also introduces a new weapon type: Gauntlets. The close-quarters weapon was designed around the concept of “Edge of Chivalry” and the “Pinnacle of Righteousness” as described by Mohist teachings in the world of Where Winds Meet. Players can access the weapon through a number of ways, like joining the new Mohist Hill sect or visiting the Universal Love Shop. The weapon also features its own martial arts that can be earned through various activities.
Everstone Studio has confirmed that more updates are coming to Where Winds Meet as part of the Hidden Mountain expansion that will introduce more new zones to explore, campaigns to clear, world bosses to fight, and a main story to continue.
