Why only Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition works with PS Move

Resident Evil 5 will soon have support for Sony’s new Playstation Move- but only the Gold Edition. Capcom explains.

This could be fun with motion control...

A rep from Capcom explained that Playstation Move requires a certain memory source. Upon development of Resident Evil 5, the team behind the game knew nothing, or very little about PS Move. They had no way of designing the game to support it.

However, when making the Gold Edition, the dev team modified the game to free up an extra memory slot for the Playstation Move.

The way it will work will be simple; the analogue stick on the controller makes Chris move, and the wand makes him aim. Pressing the trigger button puts you into target mode, and shaking the controller while you do it will make your character reload. Shaking the controller without aiming will make your character strike with their melee attack.

However, there is no obligation to use Playstation Move when playing RE 5: Gold Edition- you can yield the same (and better, in our opinion) results using a regular Dualshock gamepad.
