Microsoft is wrapping up 2024 with four major exclusives for Xbox Series X/S. However, 2025 looks even more significant with Fable, Avowed, South of Midnight, and Towerborne planned for launch, not to mention an alleged release for Gears of War: E-Day. There are also titles like The Outer Worlds 2 (recently confirmed for PS5) and Ark 2 to look forward to.
Thus, it’s not surprising to hear of a potential Xbox event in January 2025. The Verge’s Tom Warren said on social media that he’s “expecting” such an event, and while that may be more of an opinion than of a rumor, it’s not impossible. Xbox has hosted a Developer_Direct in January for the past two years, offering more details and notable reveals for several titles while going behind the scenes with several studios.
If Compulsion Games’ South of Midnight is launching in March 2025, as dictated by rumors, it could very well be announced at such an event. Time will ultimately tell, so stay tuned for updates in the coming month.
