Gears of War 4

The Coalition’s Gears of War 4 will be able to leverage the added power of the Xbox One S to improve performance in-game according to studio head Rod Fergusson.

Speaking to Polygon, Fergusson noted that the game used a dynamic resolution system for both campaign and multiplayer in order to maintain the frame rate for each mode. This means that the resolution would effectively scale down from its default setting to ensure no slowdown in performance (this can result in softened image quality in some cases due to the lower resolution).

With the Xbox One S sporting more GPU and CPU power, the development team’s engineers have managed to reduce the number of penalties to the frame rate and resolution in performance heavy sections.

So while Gears of War 4 will continue to perform well with its frame rate performance, it will still maintain a strong resolution throughout thanks to the Xbox One S. Gears of War 4 is out on October 11th while the Xbox One S is out in early August.
