Xbox One Sells Through 2 Million Units in 18 Days

Microsoft's next gen console has seen its fair share of success since launch.

Microsoft has revealed that in the 18 days since the Xbox One launched – November 22nd in 13 territories worldwide – it has sold through 2 million units. It has also been revealed that since launch, consumers have spent 83 million hours across games, TV and apps along with earning 39 million Achievements and 595 million Gamerscore points.

Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of strategy and marketing for Xbox stated that, “We continue to be humbled and overwhelmed by the positive response from our fans. We are thrilled to see sales of Xbox One on a record-setting pace, with over 2 million Xbox One consoles in homes around the world.

“Demand is exceeding supply in our 13 launch markets and Xbox One is sold out at most retailers. We’re also particularly excited to see consumers engaging in a wide range of games and entertainment experiences on the platform, with more than 1 million paid transactions on Xbox Live to date.”

It was also revealed by Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb that the Xbox One was selling over 1000 consoles per minute at peak demand on Amazon. Both GameStop and Walmart are currently reporting “high demand from customers”.

As of last week, Sony confirmed that the PS4 has managed to sell more than 2.1 million consoles worldwide since its launch. Which console will emerge supreme by year-end? Stay tuned for more sales updates.
