Halo 5: Guardians has had a rather incredible and successful launch and some of the top execs at Microsoft have been spending the week making sure 343 Industries gets a loud round of applause. Part of the reason the company is celebrating the launch so heartily is because it was this month last year that the Master Chief Collection launched. That particular launch was less than impressive, as the game was plagued with problems from the start.
This time around, Guardians has been about as good as advertised. Microsoft’s Phil Spencer took to Twitter to voice his congratulations for the special way in which Halo 5 dominated the Xbox sales charts. “Stat I’m most proud of in the PR release is that Halo 5 is #1 on XBL. Nice to see Halo MP doing so well again.” He said from his account. The company has seen big time popularity of the multi-player mode.
We already knew that the game had the biggest launch in Halo history but the ways to measure the success of the launch keeps popping up. Spencer has long been one who has been rooting for 343. He said the poor launch of the Master Chief collection hit 343 right in the heart. It would seem as though the company’s heart has officially healed, considering the fact that Halo 5: Guardians raised more than $400 million in revenue from and hardware sales in the short period since the game was released. Now we’ll just have to see how good the game’s sales are going to be moving forward.
