Microsoft’s steady drip of information on the Xbox Series X is ramping up, and we’re now firmly in the territory of “major reveals”- or, well, close enough anyway. The company has confirmed that it will be hosting a digital event in July that will feature major reveals of upcoming first party games for the Xbox Series X (many of which will presumably be cross-gen)- but exactly how major are we talking about here?

According to known industry insider shinobi602, there’s plenty of reason to be excited. Writing in a thread on ResetEra, shinobi said that the plan is for Microsoft to essentially put all their cards on the table in a big blowout, revealing major upcoming first party exclusives. According to him, many third party games are also primed to be at the show, though they may not necessarily be exclusives. Shinobi ended his message by clarifying that plans could always change, but as things stand right now, the above is what Microsoft are working toward.

“The idea was always to basically lay all the cards on the table from first party and have a big blowout,” he wrote. “And there’s a ton of stuff to be excited about. Definitely big AAA XGS reveals, other big third parties on stage (not necessarily exclusive). It might change a bit at this point in time given COVID-19, but you could say that’s the aim. I’m personally really excited for their show.”

It’s always best to take unofficial statements with a pinch of salt, especially given how plans for all major companies seem to be in a flux in the current situation, but Microsoft’s messaging about their July event so far has definitely been in line with this– so it’s likely that they have big things planned.

There’s been plenty of speculation about Perfect Dark revival being developed by The Initiative, while rumours about Fable 4 being made by Playground Games have been around for a couple of years- any of those two reveals would definitely qualify as “big.” Besides, Halo Infinite is confirmed to be making an appearance at the show, so we definitely have that to look forward to, at the very least.
