LAUNCHING WITH SEGA BRANDING IN JAPAN

This rumour was just very easy to dismiss right off the bat- it claimed that the Xbox Series X would be releasing in Japan under the Sega branding thanks to a deal between Sega and Microsoft. This rumour smartly took elements that we know are true – a growing friendship between the two companies, Sega’s popularity in Japan, and Microsoft’s weak presence in the region – but then spun a frankly ridiculous tale on top of them.
