We’re still in the early stages of 2022, but questions are naturally being asked about what the major players of the industry are going to have in store for the coming months of the year. Where Xbox is concerned, beyond Starfield and Redfall, no other major first party exclusives are currently scheduled to launch this year, and of those two, only one has a firm release date.
It seems, however, that plans are underway at Microsoft to make some of those much-needed announcements. As reported by Pure Xbox, XboxEra co-founder and prominent insider Nick Baker recently claimed on the XboxEra forums that based on what he’s heard, Microsoft is planning two events for this year- one in May, and one in September.
The timing of a May showcase, if one is happening, would certainly be curious, given the fact that Microsoft is something of a permanent fixture at E3 this year. E3 2022, of course, is not happening, so maybe Microsoft is planning a separate event of its own a little earlier than the June showcase it holds at E3 each year. We do know that Microsoft is planning on kicking the marketing for Starfield into gear sometime this Summer, so that would certainly align.
Whether that actually ends up happening remains to be seen, of course, but we’ll keep an eye out for more new details, so stay tuned for updates.
