XDefiant

Ubisoft’s free-to-play shooter XDefiant launches on May 21st after several delays, and to celebrate the same, a new series called XDebrief has premiered. The first episode features an interview with executive producer Mark Rubin and his thoughts on matchmaking while featuring tips for different game modes and more. Check it out below.

XDefiant won’t have skill-based matchmaking for casual play. Rubin also speaks against Engagement Optimized Matchmaking and how it also contributes to repetitive games. The developer looks to avoid the same, but time will tell how it pans out.

There are several tips about different modes, like how to attack and defend in Domination. Various professional players also reveal some of the better attachments for weapons, like emphasizing strafe speed on assault rifles.

XDefiant is out tomorrow for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC (PS4 and Xbox One versions are due later). Pre-loads are currently available for all platforms. Stay tuned for more details when servers go live.
